The Benefits of Following Safety Standards and Procedures

As customers increasingly seek out wilderness and off-the-beaten-track travel experiences in more remote parts of the world the screening of suppliers and quality control at destination becomes more critical. This article describes the Federation of Tour Operators’ (FTO) Preferred Code of Practice for Health and Safety and the very real assistance it provides tour operators and their suppliers. A recent legal case from adventure tourism illustrates the tangible benefits of following safety standards and procedures.
